Our Story and Mission
At Isithombe Safaris, we believe the soul of Africa is best discovered on foot — where every step brings you closer to the land, the wildlife, and the stories that have unfolded here for generations.
At the core of Isithombe Safaris are two people who live and breathe the wild: Brendan and Shelby.
Brendan is a private safari guide with years of experience leading guests through some of Africa’s most remote and breathtaking landscapes. His passion for wildlife, storytelling, and conservation comes alive with every step he takes — and he’s happiest when guiding guests on foot, sharing the thrill of tracking elephants, lions, or rhinos the old-fashioned way. Known for his keen tracking skills, deep bush knowledge, and easygoing sense of humour, Brendan turns every walk into an unforgettable journey.
Shelby’s love for the wilderness shines through her hospitality, her contagious energy, and her talent in the kitchen. As a skilled chef, she delights in creating meals that are as memorable as the scenery — whether it’s a bush breakfast at sunrise or a candlelit dinner under a blanket of stars. She’s all about creating meaningful connections — between people, nature, and the stories shared around the fire after a day in the bush.

Safaris are deeply personal to Shelby and Brendan; it’s where their own love story began. They first met in a safari camp in Hwange National Park five years ago and, in 2024, they returned on another safari trip to the heart of Hwange to get engaged. For them, the bush is not only where they work — it’s where life-changing moments happen.

I’ve been fortunate to travel with friends all over the world - Japan, Mexico, South Africa, and more. Yet, to this day, our favorite trip by far was the safari we experienced with Brendan as our guide.
I’ve been on several safaris since, and I can confidently say that what made this one stand out was Brendan himself. His deep knowledge of the bush, paired with his incredible energy and warm hospitality, was truly unmatched. He made every moment feel both educational and effortless, and most importantly, so much fun.
